Daily Giver Question fir March 17, 2010

As Jonas works to bathe Larissa, she recounts the release of an old man, "Roberto". Jonas is curious about what happens to those who are released. Larissa tells him that she does not know, just that they go through the special doors for release.

Create a short scenario for Jonas. Tell him what he would find if he went through the doors. Use descriptive language to fill in some of the details of your paragraph.

As a start, you may choose to begin with, "As Jonas walked through the doors he saw..."

  1. As Jonas walked through the doors he saw something that really amazed him, there were plam trees everywhere with a small fish pond every ten feet. As Jonas explored deeper he found a marvoulous pool and in the pool he found an old man who he guessed to be Roberto. Jonas started talking to him and found out that the pools are set up to let the released people relax until they enter the hall of rest where they lay down for the last time, Jonas entered and found many bodies that belonged to people that had been released. Surpressing a gag Jonas ran all the way back to the doors of release and burst through them. From that day Jonas never went near the doors of release again.

  3. As Jonas walked through the doors he saw a might land extend before his eyes streching out to the horizon. On this yellow and green prairie he saw strange things that walked on fours some tall and small, some slow and some quick. For the first time in his life he finally knew what freedom felt like. He did know what to do with himself he had never felt freedom and there for didn't know what to do. Everything had been planned out for him in life and was not independant. Suddenly he heard russleing in the bushes. Out came a strange little boy with dark skin. This little boy picked Jonas off the ground. Jonas was in a state of shock and didn't know what else to do other than go with the boy. They walked for a while saying nothing until they came to a village with huts. Jonas thought that they were silly and uncivilized but because he felt he had been abandoned by his community, he said noth so he wouldn't offend the boy. The boy taught Jonas about individualism and they became great friends and Jonas finally learned about the world and became a zoologist and spent all the rest of his life living with them.

  5. Hey, great, Grim, you gave Jonas the freedom you wished for him. I love how you described the prairie and kept your descriptions to how Jonas would experience the place. Thank-you for the reading!

  6. Cool Chatter Box! You have given the story a little bit of an intriguing twist. Certainly that would captivate an audience! Nicely done.

  7. As Jonas walked through the doors he saw nothing but a white hall of nothingness that seemed to go on for ages. After Jonas walked about 20 mins, he came to a simple red door. As he opened the door it started to creak and studdenly the door came to a complete halt. Then he heard a sinlge BANG! and a man scream in pain. Fearing for his life Jonas ran faster then he thought imageable. When he bust to safety through the white Release Doors the eyes of The Old were on him. Fleeing the building, Jonas grabbed his bike and rode to the other side on town were the Elders lived. When he wiggled though the whole in the wall, he was blinded with a bright light. It was then that Jonas reilized of the world outside his own.

  8. As Jonas walked through the doors he saw a long white hallway. It smelled faintly of bleach and had several doors spread out evenly near the end. One of the doors stood out to Jonas more than the others. It seemed foreboding and almost a bit scary even though in all reality it was exactly the same as the other three doors. Jonas walked through the door, the one that didn't quite seem right, and saw a metal cot near the middle of the room. A table stood against the right wall, covered in vials of liquid, surgical gloves, and some needles. As the thought occurred to him he shook it out of his head. They wouldn't kill people, would they? Jonas exited through a door at the far side of the room and saw columns of drawers filling the walls. Curiosity took over and Jonas opened one of them a crack. As the fog dissipated Jonas realized he was staring at feet. Cold, white feet. He turned and fled horrified at what he had discovered. Little did he know that he wouldn't live long enough to tell anyone.

  9. As Jonas walked through the doors to the releasing room, he stopped and stared. Whatever he was expecting, it was not this. It was just a plain little room with about enough room to fit around three people comfortably. On the other side of the room there was an empty archway, through which he could see a vast wasteland. Suddenly a monolithic creature blocked the view. It almost looked like Lily's comfort creature, but he couldn't tell if it was because he couldn't see its face. Just then the thing turned around and he saw that it had a very long, floppy, and skinny nose. A name suddenly came to his mind. Trunk, the long, floppy nose was a trunk so this must be an elephant! As Jonas cautiously wandered a little ways from the arch, a village came into sight. Outside were little children playing, but their skin was so dark! Two adults started calling and four children ran up to them, not two, four! Somehow Jonas felt strangely drawn to the village, somehow he knew that that was where he belonged.

  11. Jonas crept through the door slowly, slowly. He saw a long hall, at the end, a blood-red door. Not knowing what went on in the "release room," he took this as a bad omen. Emboldened by the lack of people, he walked faster to the door at the end. Reaching the door, he stopped, hearing voices on the other side. Jonas gasped and turned to leave. Suddenly, the door cracked open, and a female in a white coat stepped through, still talking. She stopped when she saw Jonas, stunned. She tried to close the door, but Jonas leapt into the room before she could block him any access. Pale pink walls throughout, with sheets over the beds, over.. something... Jonas felt sick when he realized what went on there. Bile rising, he turned and bolted, not wanted Gabriel to go through that.

  13. As Jonas walked through the door his eyes adjusted to the light as car horns and plane noises filled his ears. A whole city of new wonderful things, with skyscrapers and stuff he had never seen before lay before him. He just stood in amazement!

  14. As Jonas walked through the mystical passageway, the light was so intense it blinded him. Shocked by the sudden burst he closed his eyes and tried to take hold of his surroundings. Much to his suprize all he saw was a small metalic room with no exit. A single table laid infront of him with a single incandecent light dangiling from the roof; a Black square in the wall and another counter with vials and needles on it. Jonas did not know exactly what to say; it was nothing like he immagined it. He began to wonder what release really meant. As he exited the shining room Jonas was left with an array of new questions. When Jonas returned he simply said, "Squig wuz here X"
